Cologne's old city area and in the back round is another Cathedral named St.Martin,the second one after Der Dom. This area is not far from which I've posted before and also from here. Cologne's old city is not as big as the new Cologne nowadays.Make sense,right? ;o)

Nowadays,very few to find this old yellow public telephone box.In the past was under management of Post Office followed post office's color but now it's pink.The color of German Telecom as now they are in charge for public communication needs but very few in the form of box.Mostly are open and this one already running under German Telecom,only they kept the yellow box.I like more this old one form.

I took this photo from our kitchen window and this is one of a few ways to see Cologne from the air but I've never do that as I'm scare with high (I wish I could,so I can make a good photos from bird perspective) I don't have problem to get to the top of building and etc to overlooking the spectacular view of city,etc but I won't go close to the edge to look down,otherwise my legs shacking by itself. How about you out there,what are you scare of?

This Giant fellow,I used to see in Hohe Strasse when the Antique Shop still not move out and always thought who's going to buy him and now I coincidently found him.Aha,he is bought by a "Furniture & Art" named Schwarzer Elefant (black elephant) as read on the white board and now doing his job on this street to spread his "an eye catcher" charming. But somehow,I have a doubt whether he is still belong to this Antique Shop where I used to see him as I can't remember the shop's name and don't know as well where they move to???

I saw first time this "Fish Skull" at this small cosy restaurant located in Cologne's Yacht Harbour and thought,what a nice creative idea to put it at the entrance,is it mean they serve fish as well and it is a good eye catcher too but one day I watched a gardening program on TV and found that you can put also in your garden for make a fish bushes form...INTERESTING!

Sport Shop

This shop located in Schildergasse,the most visited shopping area in Cologne where the Melted Ice Cream Sculpture is (Neumarkt area) in here you can find your sport needs but I doubt if they have some Aero Sport goods too caused this half Propeller is only an attraction.

The Pose

I am sure to get this higher position for a snapshot with this long weapon would result a perfect shot for a bird eye view or even a lot more.This statue located in Neumarkt area not too far from the melted ice cream sculpture and it is on top of an old Camera shop where you can find some oldest camera on their display.I don't think I would like to carry this BIG weapon as I'm a practice person.But somehow,I realized that this statue is very clean,usually such a statue will stand there for the customer attraction only and being forgotten,specially in this higher position.
Well,with this camera man statue,I would like to say that I will continue make a snapshot with my little pal "Sony" but it would be not in Cologne until the second Monday of September as We are off for our holiday.

This shuttle train is on the way to the chocolate museum and sport museum.You can find it always in front of Roemisch Germanisches Museum right next to the Dom (The Cathedral) or sometimes right in front of the Dom platform and the yellow car is the taxi.FYI,these both museums are next door to each other,so don't get panic when you lost control in chocolate museum as you only need less than 3 minutes walk to the sport museum to get your shape back ;o) I will show you next time the chocolate museum.

Sorry that I took from the side as I stayed in queued and the candies that would be a bit more than others that mixed inside my paper bag were Liquorice Candies. Here is another street musician but this one,his market is only for kids.As you can see,this cute girl was his customer but his idea is to make interactive with his customer instead of only drop a coin and walk away.The song he plays attracted the adult as well caused it reminds and brings back again to their childhood or to their own kids who already fly out from the nets (adults) and of course for the grandparents of their grandchildren who may have not seen for quite some time.

This is one of Cologne's middle age wall.This was a Watch Tower which built between 1180 and 1215 and was used as a place to live in (kind of shelter place) after the destruction of WW II. But now is a place of Cologne's Carnival Clubs.Cologne Carnival (Annually) always begin on November 11th at 11:11 am until the highlight in around February and will be end-up with big parade of all the Carnivals Clubs to celebrate the coming of Spring and to kick-out the winter.Here some more from Wikipedia

These two are the main ingredient for our breakfast.We called "Brötchen" is unsalted bread and the other is the France Croissant but made in Germany ;o) and eat together with any kind of jams,honey,butter,cheese and Chocolate Nougat Cream.The Chocolate Nougat Cream is a must in German typical breakfast as well as the Brötchen even there are plenty of bread type that German bakery produced.Of course,we eats also cereal with milk as breakfast and drink coffee or tea.

Hmmm...We love Ice Cream too and can't wait for our turned on those hot days and this one was not so crowded,so we decided to stay in queue.Most of Ice Cream in Cologne are Italian one and for us they are still the best Ice cream maker and it is still hand-made Ice Cream.
Well,let's talk about Ice cream while our mouth waters.Here what I found in Wiki for "Ice Cream".

Today the sun is a bit shy to shine for Cologne ;o) We've blue sky but strong wind. I hope it will be better a bit for the weekend as one of our relative will celebrate his Golden life and we were in central station to buy a ticket for heading to the south of Germany to attend it,would be very comfortable to travel with train in this uncomfortable weather. Our sky in Cologne lately and the weather forecast for this week said will often rain. In South part of Germany even flood and snow but in the South Europe such as in Turkey,Greece and south Italy,they have extreme heat. Our local news said that the weather in Europe is going crazy as we are in summer already. This photo shows The Cathedral and the roof of Philharmonie, a concert hall.

Here is The Hohenzollern Bridge where I took the last 2 days posted. As you can see at the end right of the bridge, the wall uses by the amateur climber. Also seen in far behind the bridge is a tower where the Cologne's Rhine Park located (remember my 'Blue Sheeps' ;o). On top of the tower is a restaurant and the orange thing on the bridge was supposed to be a 'Fish' sign for the German Evangelical's Day, a kind of World Youth's Day that was held from 6-10 June this year and here one more photo just to show where I stood for yesterday photo.

We have still plenty of public telephones in Cologne in this century of Mobile Phones but not all are provide by German Telecom. The man is using an internet service which can be pay with card or coins. This kind is only provide by German Telecom and it's touch screen with web cam attached. It's efficient for tourist or anyone who just need a quick connection to chat live or just a short e-mail but there is also Internet Cafe in Cologne.

Yesterday when we got back home,it was local rain (only in our neighbourhood).We were surprised and amazed by the nature game as we live not too far from down town. So this is not a morning dew on our Geranium but it was rain.

Finally,I had my camera with me when I saw this Poweriser. But I wonder how is feel like being on it? Would I have my balance still? I've never try before :o) from my past life till now :o) This guy was tried to climb up the stairs behind him instead of straight up jumping on and he was very cooperate with me and my tiny Digi Camera. Nope for sure ;o) I was not in Arradon (Hi,Alice) or in Naples-Florida (Hi,Isabella) or even in Malta (Hi,Nadine) to snap or borrow this photo for today post ;o) but this is Cologne REAL beach and I've to wrote 'REAL' caused we do have artificial beach which is not for free such as Cologne Beach Club and Sky Beach but without sea view or direct water with Rhine view like this one ;o) This is public beach but wild beach as the government not in charge for lifeguard or any public needs facilities and that means you are on your own risk if you swim in the river and beach like this are many around Cologne. It would be save enough if not try to swim further more to the middle of the river. Well,what can I say for more...plenty tragedies happened already in Rhine river even for good swimmer and there is no "Forbidden to swim" sign around in this looking good tempting beach or in other beach of Cologne.

I'm sorry for taken quite sometime to continue my posted in May 31 .<--click it to reminds yourself. This is the surrounding of Cologne's old city if I turn around as I asked that date. Though nothing special to see but this cosy place is very nice to relax on the sunny day and in summer almost no space left. This area faces the river and the other side of Cologne city where The Koeln Triangle is and the Hohenzollern Bridge is in far left side where the two fisherman from yesterday posted did their yummy (not for me) fishing :o)

When get a license and permission for fishing than you can do like these two gentleman did under the Hohenzollern bruecke (the bridge),fishing by the river bank or anywhere as long as there are fishes and in Rhine river :o)

Actually,this tube? or box? (please,name it) is for advertising board but became efficient with the toilet service.To be honest,I've never use this public toilet as I feels weird and being watch naked once I finish and step out of the door in totally public view.Usually,I use the toilet in McDonalds, Burger King and Pals ;o) OR in department store.I'm still wonder how is look like inside ;o)
Just pay 50 cent and you can get inside this ATM (Automatic Toilet Machine) are you guys agree with my translation ;o)

On the right is the automatic machine to buy stamp and in multilingual service. You can use this machine for normal postcard and letter or if your envelope is not very heavy and very thick as the stamp price depend on size and weight of the letter. If you can see (click to enlarge photo) above the 'Briefmarken' sign is to measure the letter. The payment is with coins or card but the change money for coins will be as stamp instead of coins. So,when you don't need more stamp than better pay in exact amount as the machine said. When you have still a doubt than you can go to nearest post office and it's common when the queue is long ;o) and the left one is the box where you should drop-in your 'already with stamp stick on letter'. The white board is the schedule to empty the post mail box.

Hmmm...for me if I ride motorbike means a 'REAL' motorbike and not like this style.It's quite many to find people ride this kind of motorbike nowadays in Cologne. I found this style is not macho at all (Forgive me but that's my opinion) I haven't seen yet woman ride this one but my opinion is more match to woman. Spring is still in the air and summer in front of the door,the birds built their nest and the human change their sofa :o) I don't know how I came up with this weird poem ;o) but anyway,this sofa is not for sale and I didn't take this photo in Flea market either but this is what we do in here when you want to change your old furniture.There will be a special Garbage man who will collect an old stuff and you just need to put off the street if you already knew their schedule or you can call them to collect your big garbage but it's not allow to litter this kind of garbage in an ordinary garbage box and it goes same for electronic garbage. How your handle a big rubbish in your country?

Have you heard lately on TV the controversial quiz show in Netherlands about Organs donation which at first made Dutch people who watched get angry reaction? I don't know if in other continents have seen this news too but I reckon most people in Europe have seen on their local news. I knew now that Swiss and Austria have opposite system of organs donation.In Germany who wants to give their organs as donation will carry a special ID card and that's opposite in Swiss and Austria.Hope I was correct about this information regarded what I saw on news.
Well,since I can't find any information about this "Guy" statue,I think he needs organs donation too ;o) or someone (a statue) out there needs organs donation? Here i found one ear,two hands and two legs ready for donate ;o) but I don't know if he is willing to donate,I didn't see any specific ID card.Please,don't get angry to me caused I just need to post this funny statue and write something and nothing bad ever cross on my mind ;o)

One of relaxing place of Cologne

One of the days when last week the sky gave sunshine and blue sky,I was here to relax (today is raining). This is over looking to other side of Rhine.Behind me or where I sat down to took this photo is the area of old city when continue from yesterday posted the water gauge is on the far right site of this photo and just to reminds I've posted this area which was between bridge and underground street. In summer or as long as the weather is warm enough,this area is full with sunbather or people who just need to relax (sometimes in winter too but not for sunbathing ;o). Behind me are many restaurants and hotels. Do you need me to turn around? ;o)

Rhine water gauge

On the river bank on the side where Der Dom (Cathedral) located as you can see on the left photo is the Köln Triangle (posted 20 May). This water gauge actually already stood here since 1810 but in 1943 being bombed and the condition what you see now is the rebuilt from 1951. In the past when the river over flow then it will be big flood until the old city but nowadays the river level is less than usual. There is an old photo shows in around here where I stood now about the flood in the past.You can enlarge by click the photo to see the last water level from the other side wall.

One of an ordinary street in down town Cologne.Left and right buildings are the common apartment style and at the ground floors are some boutiques as well as cafe,shops and supermarket.In the far down is the sky scraper called "Köln Turm" (Cologne Tower) which located in the north of Cologne's new city in the area named "Media Park". It is 165,48 m high with 43 floors. As far as I knew Köln Turm is not open for public to view the city from its plat form like in Köln Triangle.

The beauty and the beast ;-) This is our new and old train.The new one can reach Frankfurt in 50 minutes and the old one could do in more than 1 hour or so.Again in the back round is Cologne's mascot "Der Dom" (Cathedral) and left hand is the part of the "Koeln Triangle" building. The central station located beside Der Dom. Cologne still quiet than usual as to day we've holiday still for Whit-Monday.So, Happy Whit-Monday for those who celebrate it.

Confuse? how can you get inside? they are too close to each other,right? :-) or they mean to do that so you can still continue your conversation during "your nature calling" as you can see in the back they prepare and it will be a skate board competition;...NO,NO,NO...these public toilets are not ready to use yet as I said they prepare but wait can you find the door?? Something funny also about the name on it,in German if you say 3 times that means you wish someone good luck,just like when you make finger cross but we don't make finger cross instead press your thumb inside your palm and say "Toi,Toi,Toi"

City Cruiser

Have you seen this kind anywhere? or could be you have in your city,too? this is in front of Cathedral (Der Dom) They are always there in Spring and Summer and you can pay per hour to ride this but you will not be the one who puddling for the city cruising :-) and we called "Rikscha or Fahrradtaxi" and only for two passengers. It is exist in all big city of Germany. I found this is very efficient to concord the city street for sightseeing and nature friendly!

Isn't she cute? Ladies & Gentleman,introducing "Pueppi!"(Poupy) the most cutest inhabitant of Cologne. My most adorable dog! but since she became famous and get a title of 'Dog with Job',it's rare to meet her on the street with her master. Look at left hand pin how famous she is. With Cologne former football player Lukas Podolski who now plays for Bayer Munich. Just click the upper photo to see more of her charming.I just can't get enough of her. Below photo is when she shows a bit of her nature behavior caused of a group of kids try to make joke on her.This below photo actually taken before the above one. I called her name and she just stopped barking and pose for me. I was so amazed how she loves camera.She works as a model now.

Yacht dock

This is the Yacht Harbour of Cologne.Like always said a picture tells thousand words then I want to say my words: far back is the famous Cologne's mascot "Der Dom" (The Cathedral).It can be seeing from everywhere.The Rhine river and from this view means flows to the Netherlands and came from Swiss.The bridge and this is not the same bridge from all my previous posted as Cologne city has 7 bridges that connected the west and east sites. Right now this area is under construction for the new luxury apartments for sale only and office for rent as you can see on left and right side. This place will be look nice and luxury when it finish even now we can enjoy sunset from this side in beer garden stairs restaurant where I took this photo. I will try post one day a nice photo of the sunset and hope I can make it as i'm still learning to make sunset photo and until now still not satisfied with the result yet.

TV station

This is our regional TV broadcast building called WDR and this is the part of the building that I like most caused of the architecture (sorry for the sun reflection) but again I'm very sorry I don't know the name of the architect. WDR produces regional news about Cologne and surrounding of the state of North Rhine Westphalia where Cologne is and six regional radio channels as well.Just for info,the capital of North Rhine Westphalia(NRW) state is Duesseldorf.

On the river bank of Rhine where the Cathedral located (sorry that you can't see it here as it's on very left site).This is a view to the Old City (well,part of) from my weird angle :-) Above is a bridge for the tram goes to the other site of the Rhine where the triangle is (posted yesterday) as well as for all kind of vehicles and pedestrian. Cologne city is in both sites of the river Rhine.The middle level is the real ground as you can see,sunbather are enjoy themselves and below it's a special road for "special toys with engine" ;-) also can see in this photo on the left hand...Well,Cologne is in her plastic surgery and almost in all part.Soon will be very beauty than ever before :-)

Cologne Triangle

We called "Koeln Triangle".This 103,20 m high and 29 floors triangle building (office building) is still the only one highest building to view Cologne from above beside also from the Cathedral (we called "Der Dom").It is located in the other side of the Rhine.This building which make Der Dom was in the red list of UNESCO to pull out of The World Heritage if Cologne city keeps built skyscraper more high than Der Dom.It's open for public,you just need to pay the entrance fee in automatic machine and take the lift to the platform view or pay entrance too in Der Dom and take the spiral stairs and twister up to the top :-) but both guarantee you will enjoy the view. Just a bit info,for this year German's Idol was held here :-)

Original Eau de Cologne

How about for saturday night fever or whatever nice of evening plan an information about this,so you will not forget to put on some fragrance :-) This is "4711 Original Eau de Cologne Fountain". It can't be separate from Cologne itself (very typical Cologne). During the French occupation of Cologne in 1796,the French Commander General Daurier ordered that all buildings should be consecutively numbered. Wilhelm Muelhens' house was given the number 4711 which later on in 1875 registered as the company's trademark and this number still use until now days and the original building is still there today.This "aqua mirabilis" which now well-known as Eau de Cologne was a secret recipe given to Mr. and Mrs.Muelhens as a wedding gift by Carthusian monk in 1792. It is allow to take a splash in this fountain when you're inside with your hands but I'm not sure if you allow to bring your own bottle to fill in :-) as often heard as a joke among tourist when they get inside instead of only make their hands wet :-) The building located in Glockengasse number 4711,ask anyone (not tourist) and they can point where about.It is open all year around.Inside is also the historical exhibition featured valuable pieces from over 200 years of 4711 Original Eau de Cologne and outside on top of the building has a carillon with its historical equestrian figures revolve to the strains of the Marsellaise every hour and you can hear the nice music between 9 am and 7 pm. Well...after drink you should not drive,so here we are inside the tram :-) (It's an old one) As always BIG city life,Cologne has a good public transport system,we don't have yet a proper metro but the tram goes underground as well.At the moment the tram lines are mess up caused the city is expand and their need to build up another new track and maintenance the old one.For me (think not only me) is a bit annoying caused I have to look at the route plan and makes me feel like a "new comer" in my own city...if not I could end up in wrong destination :-(

To begin another angle to see Cologne...who wants to join a beer with me? ;-) and since many too many blogger out there,who came first to catch a glimpse on newest existed URL for Cologne get the other glass....This is the typical Cologne's beer and only in Cologne people drinks beer from this 0,2 l glass and for those who don't drink alcohol this brewery house has non alcohol beer and hot milk (other non alcohol beverage as well) :o) and Let's make "CHEERS!" for Cologne.
