SALE session

This is what it looks like in the end if someone held a huge party :o) Kidding! Spring is still in the air and summer in front of the door, the birds built their nest and the human change their sofa :o) I don't know how I came up with this weird poem ;o) but anyway, this sofa is not for sale and I didn't take this photo in Flea market either but this is what we do in here when you want to change your old furniture. There will be a special Garbage man who will collect an old stuff and you just need to put off the street if you already knew their schedule or you can call them to collect your big garbage but it's not allow to litter this kind of garbage in an ordinary garbage box and it goes same for electronic garbage. How your handle a big rubbish in your country?

Your large trash is like our trash pickup. We call the city and tell them we have something large to pick up and they have days set aside to do that.

The lady with the son is looking back at the sofa as if she is thinking that it might be something she could use at home.

Abraham Lincoln's kidney stone attack...

I rolled on the floor, puked, screamed, and passed out. When I woke up the neighbor was gone.

You should have asked someone to have a seat for a fun photo! In Sweden we have big recycling stations where you can leave everything, from your old fridge and computer, to wood and plastic materials. There are also smaller stations closer to home for plastic bottles, glass bottles, newspapers and batteries.

In the U.S., I think it varies from town to town. In a town a few miles away from mine, you can only call for 2 special trash pickups (like the one you feature here) per year; in my town, we can have our trash picked up as often as we like (within reason).

Recycling is different across the country, too... for example, in my town, we need to keep our newspaper and mixed paper separate, but I have lived in a city where all paper was lumped into the same category of recycling.

This is probably WAAAAAAAY more than you actually wanted to hear. :)

Pretty much the same, here in Boston. People place furniture and other large objects near their door or back door (usually in an alley) the night before garbage collection.

That sofa and chairs look in decent condition. The kind of thing a student here would snatch right away.

It's the same in my place or if it can be used again we call to the secondhand store and they pick it up.

I live in out in the country and here they are not so civilized with how they dispose of big garbage. Drive down most any country road and you'll see where people have dumped their old furniture anywhere along the side of the road. It's against the law to do so, but rude people do it anyway.

interesting! Come to think of it i dont know how we dispose off furniture here. I guess calling the furniture maker is a good way to recycle bits and pieces to make brand new ones

I'm embarrassed to say I don't know. I live in a coop (condo) so we have a full time janitor and a live-in super who takes care of EVERYTHING in the building.

Since my building is a pre-war (1928) building, it has a garbage disposal shoot on each floor. Basically, I securely wrap my trash, throw it into the shoot and someone in the basement puts them out on the street.

For bigger items, I take them to the basement area and leave it there. The janitor will take them away.

If nobody comes to collect the sofa

It is useful can be to make an installation in the street to
discuss with passers by

In the US we handle big rubbish pickup in a very much the same way Germany does. I'm suspect we learned from the European example. I think many of the US "procedures" are based on European examples with a merging of best practices from other parts of the world.

no one throws this kind of beauty in our place, it is given to anyone who can still use it
